OUR MISSION
Immigrant Hall of Honor documents, preserves and honors the many ways immigrants and their descendants have shaped—and continue to shape—the United States.
Through recognition, community storytelling and a growing digital archive, Immigrant Hall of Honor works to make the contributions and experiences of immigrants more visible, accessible and enduring—while giving individuals and families an opportunity to add their own stories to the larger American narrative.

THE WORK WE DO
The Immigrant Hall of Honor is being built in stages. While our long-term vision is a permanent national museum, we are already doing the work that will make that museum possible.
RECOGNITION
Immigrants have made extraordinary contributions to American life—in the arts and sciences, in business and government, on the playing field, in classrooms and communities, and in countless other fields.
The Immigrant Hall of Honor Recognition Program celebrates these contributions by inducting noteworthy immigrants into the Hall of Honor.
Each year, we will recognize a new class of inductees across a broad range of fields, creating a growing record of immigrant achievement in the United States.
COMMUNITY STORYTELLING
The immigrant experience isn’t only found in the stories of famous people. It lives in families—in memories, photographs, traditions, journeys and the experiences passed from one generation to the next.
IHH gives individuals and families tools to document those histories.
Our free publication, A Beginner’s Guide to Telling Your Family’s American Immigration Story, provides practical guidance for immigrants telling their own stories, families documenting the experiences of relatives, and people researching their immigrant ancestors.
Our online storytelling portal also gives people an opportunity to share their personal and family immigration stories with IHH.
PRESERVATION
Fueled by our community storytelling project, Immigrant Hall of Honor is building a growing digital archive of immigrant stories and histories, creating a lasting record of the people and families whose experiences are part of the American story.
Our Founding Voices collection is the beginning of that work.
PROVIDING CONTEXT
Through our Beyond the Stories initiative, we explore the cultures, histories, places and experiences that shape the lives of immigrants and their families, helping build a deeper, two-way understanding between immigrants and the communities they join.
SEE THE DREAM
The ultimate vision of the Immigrant Hall of Honor is a large national museum in Texas where visitors learn, often in interactive fashion, about the contributions that immigrants have been making to the United States since 1776 in agriculture, architecture, art, business, American cuisine, education, engineering, government, literature and journalism, medicine, music, theater and film, science and math, technology and other fields.
